EASTER SUNDAY - JESUS IS RISEN

Children, today we rejoice as we celebrate Easter Sunday. What is the story of Easter? It is the story of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Who came to earth to give His Life for us so that we would be saved from our sins. How did this come about? It's a long story which is written in the Bible.

When God the Father Almighty first made heaven and earth, He made the world. And the moon and planets. He created stars, and rainbows, and armadillos, and parakeets, and turkeys. God also made man and woman, and He put them into Paradise. Well, the sad story is that Adam and Eve disobeyed God and were put out of Paradise. They had listened to the voice of the devil who is a fallen angel. God was very upset. He was sad that things had turned out this way. But God didn't forget human beings. He said He would send a Redeemer. God sent His only Son Jesus to be our  Redeemer and Messiah. That means Jesus is the Saviour, One Who saves us from our sins.

Because of what happened in Paradise and people having to leave that wonderful garden - where there was no sickness, or getting old, or death - there have been problems in our world. Because our ancestors in the garden fell from grace, people have sin in them. But there is an answer! We can be washed from our sin by the sacrament of baptism. We can fix our relationship with God by the sacrament of confession. We can invite Jesus into our souls and become strong by receiving His Body and Blood in the sacrament of holy communion.

The sacraments are all possible because God called His Son Jesus in heaven and asked Him if He would go to earth to sort out all the problems there. Jesus said yes. So He came to earth as a little baby, and grew to a fine strong Man.

Jesus taught disciples to become holy men and women of God. On Holy Thursday, Jesus made the sacrament of holy communion. Then on Good Friday, Jesus was condemned to death. He died on the cross to save us from our sins. On Saturday Jesus lay buried in the tomb. Then in the early hours of Sunday morning, Jesus was resurrected! This means that He became alive again! And we will all be resurrected one day just as He was. Then we will live forever. We will never get old, or sick, or die. We will live in great happiness with God, Jesus, Our Lady, St Joseph, our loved ones, the angels and the saints forever. God's Word in the holy bible has promised us this! How wonderful.

Today let us celebrate Easter Sunday, and thank Almighty God for this wonderful thing He has done. Alleluia!

With thanks to yourube
