THE OUR FATHER

Little children, one day Jesus sat down on a mountainside. There were big crowds all around Him. The little boys and girls all crowded around Jesus; He smiled at them and patted them on their heads. The mothers brought their little babies to Jesus, and He cooed at them and cuddled them. Jesus loves little babies, boys and girls.

The disciples were very excited to be with Jesus. He taught them the prayer to God our Father. Jesus came to tell us the wonderful news that God is His Father and God is also our Father. We are His human children. Isn't that lovely?

As Christians, we should pray the Our Father prayer every day. This prayer is a very holy prayer. Jesus' prayer teaches us to turn to God when we need help. We bless God, Who is so great and good, and loving to us. We promise to do the good things here on earth He wants us to do. We ask Him to send us the food and shelter we need. We also ask God to forgive us when we make mistakes, and we promise to forgive people who hurt us when they make mistakes. We also ask Jesus to protect us every day.

This is the prayer Jesus taught us to pray every day;

'Our Father, Who art is Heaven,
Hallowed by Thy Name;
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as It is in Heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom,
The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever,
Amen.'
