THE TALE OF PETER RABBIT

Dear children,

When I was a little girl many years ago, our mother used to take my little brother and myself every week to the reading circle at the local library in Welkom.

The librarian used to read wonderful stories to us; she used to use different voices, and tell tales of exciting things.
I used to look forward so much to the weekly library story hour.

Then one story time the librarian invited us all to join a competition.

Everyone was to write a story.
The stories would be read by the librarians, and there were wonderful prizes to be won.

I went home with my mum, so excited!

I wrote my story.
My brother wrote a lovely story too.
We handed them in, and waited with great excitement to see who would win the competition.

And guess what, children?

WE ALL WON A PRIZE.
Every single one of our children's group won a prize from the kind librarians.
And the wonderful book I won was called
'The Tale of Peter Rabbit' by the great English author and artist Beatrix Potter.

Oh, how I loved that book!

And all the other books that Ms Potter wrote.
I read them all, over and over again!
And I used to draw pictures of all the animals Ms Potter had drawn in her books.
